Hi, I am on L1B since Dec'10. My visa is expiring in Apr'11. Due to project requirement, my company has plan for my visa extension. Is there any way to get the GC? If part-time study can help to process my GC faster, I am ready for that too.

I am in my seventh year of h1. I applied for one year extension.Not granted yet.
So do I have to wait to get the extension approved ? Can I get my 140 approval and re-appy for 3 year extension and then make the move ?
I am really grateful for that bit of info previously.

tanyas_21: Amendment processing time is same as normal H1 processing time. Your status is H4 until the H1B amendment (797 w/ I-94) is approved or You re-enter USA after you get your H1B stamped. USCIS usually sends cable to home consulate mentioned in I-129 about the approval of H1B - It is one of the reason, most of the attorneys' recommend people to get it stamped from home consulate. As long as you go with all the paper work, You can get it stamped from Mexico, and I dont see any issues. Do not attempt to get it stamped from Canada unless you have a verifiable US education. yeah it does seem a bit un-alive. but i'm glad you like it man. Kirupa usually writes back and says - i've added it up when he likes a stamp. He will in time, no doubt but because of various contests that are taking place, perhaps he is very busy. In fact I am trying to think up a competition for him at the moment, but they all seem to have been done at some point in the past - t shirt etc. Perhaps the most obvious idea for a competition on a forum such as this would be a web page design? give people some guidlines and let them design a nice webpage in a sort of css style - but give them a title or ficticious company (perhaps something like - The new official site for Elvis and Graceland) - even if it is not an actual scripted site in html - only a jpg? but god knows who would give out prizes for such a contest. In the recent magazine cover competition (which i am a judge for) someone has offered considerable prizes. Maybe Kirupa could contact lisa marie and ask her ;)

Ajju, Mine & wife's applications for 485/EAD/AP reached Nebraska on 07/25/07 and I have receipt dates of 08/27/07. I'm yet to receive it from my lawyer. Found out the LIN #'s from the back of my encashed check. No finger print notice yet. I do not think every one who filed between 07/17/07 to 08/17/07 will have a receipt date of 07/17/07

8/27 should be your Notice Date... per online status it will say received on 8/27.. but its ND... Once you get physical receipts... the RD has to be 7/24 in all normal scenarios... But for July fiasco filers.. I think it could be just 7/17... Update once you get the physical receipts.. I may be wrong... just noticed this in one case only yet...

have a couple of quick questions. It would be great if someone could
answer them for me.
(1) Do I need to leave my I-94 card in when I give them my
old passport? Is it OK if I remove it? Do they make a big deal of this?
A. It is OK to remove the i-94
(2) In the online form, what do I choose for the "Service Desired" field?

Recently I have filed my H1B petition . However due to some emergency I need to quit my current organisation (Company A) who has sponsored the H1B . My questions are :
1. Would there be any adverse effect if in future Company B files H1B for me ?
2. What generally happens if I file H1B and am not able to attend the interview ?
3. Is there any way Company A can revoke the H1B petition after I resign before H1B interview ?
Would appreciate a quick a reply .

Ask your company if they can do your H1 extension under CORP thus the legal entity does not change and there should be no issue.
It seems like for your initial H1, it was a mistake on their part that they filed you H1 under CORP while you were actually paid by the BANK. Can you ask them why they did that in the first place?
If it's a mistake on their part, there's no reason why you should suffer and they must take every effort to help you out. Work with them, talk to your manager, his/her manager and explain them the issue. It's an internal thing and I'm sure can be worked out.

Hi all,
I think my scenario is little complicated.I have my I140 (EB3) cleared with previous employer and my current company has filed new labor and I140 (EB2). They are trying to capture the priority date of my old I140 approval (August 2006).
While my current I140 is still going on, can I apply for I1-485 due to sudden improvement shown for EB2 category in September Visa bulletin.
Please advice.
