Can you turn off the 3D and play the games in 2D?
How does it play the DS games?
Looking forward to seeing one over the weekend.

I figured this out last night poking around in System Profiler on the new Mac Mini display unit in the local Apple Store. There was a new, separate entry for "Card Reader" that I hadn't seen before. Lo and behold, there it was, "SDXC", supporting 2.5GT/s (that's 2.5Gbps before taking into account the all the data transfer protocol overhead).
Doing some more poking, I found in the Ethernet section the fact that the new Minis use a Broadcom BCM57765 (http://www.broadcom.com/products/Ethernet-Controllers/Enterprise-Client/BCM57765) controllerwhich just happens to also include the memory card reader controller, which supports SDXC.
The ultimate transfer speed will depend on the card used. Some are a lot slower than others. Looks like the card reader was "free" with the ether controller. I can see this making sense on a laptop so you don't have to carry around an extra dongle but I would rather just have an extra USB on a desktop, especially since the damn thing is on the back.

yes i agree there. osx server shall thusly be known as "Mac OSX Home Server".
*cry*
Yep... Considering Apple did nothing to provide a Snow Leopard Server connector for Windows 7 and beyond, kinda makes Apple's server offering redundant in a mixed-platform environment these days... SLS in name had potential... but... whats under the hood isn't up to the quality of the Apple logo.
Great to see some EFFORT on polishing the server. Based on my experience using it over the last 18 months, they would have to give me the next version in order to even consider it... Guess they are :)
I just deployed Windows Home Server 2... And very happy with it at the moment... It seem MS is more than ready for competition on this front...

So can I put one of these new SDXC cards in the back and use that as my boot drive while maintaining the internal HD for data storage?
Would that be better than an SSD?
No it wouldn't be better than an ssd, on the contrary it would worse than an HD, sd cards are not optimized for the many small writes that an os performs, nor do they lend themselves well to ntfs or hfs+, and that's why ssd drives that include flash have such convoluted contollers and cost that much more than sd cards, because of the development that goes into them.

hehe With 11 billion cash in the bank (half of Adobe's market cap), it would be really sweet if Apple acquired Adobe!
Drop all Adobe apps for Windows. Force people to either convert to Mac or find an alternative.
Ah it's just an awful, evil dream.
Please come true :)

Awesome, I love it! I want to sign up for .Mac so bad, but I can't justify it being worth $99 per year. I would gladly pay $49 per year, especially since I would use iWeb, Photocasting, and all the other good stuff.
$8.25 a month is too much to keep multiple computers in sync? That alone is worth $8.25/month for me. I hardly use the .mac Mail, and rarely even the iDisk (although it's nice to have). The syncing of bookmarks and address book is mindlessly easy, and invaluable for me.

Expose by shaking is a very crap idea, wasn't that great for undo either.
shake-to-anything is a bad idea.

Is Apple thinking that SD cards are going to become the new "floppies"?
Many people who exchange files by 'sneaker net' use CDs, but don't need the capacity of a CD. Plus while rewriteable CDs exist, they are pricey and most people don't use them. Most files are exchanged a barely used CD that then gets shelved and collects dust.
Imagine if people started exchanging SD cards. Initially lower capacities only will be available, but soon CD equivalent SD cards will be available, and soon after that the 1 and 2 TB cards.
If Apple can create enough demand for cards, then economies of scale will bring prices down as they become a standard commodity.
As others have mentioned the bigger capacity ones would have all sorts of uses besides the exchange of files. Wow.
Hmm.

Nobody is saying you can't discriminate against someone who's shoved a gun in your face and asked for all the money in your cash register.
However, what's your rationale for discriminating against someone who has sat down at a table and wants to order a hamburger and fries?
Males are far more likely to commit violent crimes than females. If you were worried about statistics, then it would make sense to open an "ladies only" establishment.
I'm pointing out just how ridiculous discrimination is ;)

Of course it applies. Your assinine response has me thinking you're a jerk. Had you responded in a positive manner, even if disagreeing, my opinion of you would be entirely different. How's that for a simple real life example? Positivity is always preferable to negativity.
But don't you think everyone is frustrated by the little things that the ads pick apart? And anyone who is is anyone who may potentially switch.
I think it's brilliant.

don't have those Amazon placeholders a pretty bad reliability index?
Yes. Amazon doesn't know anything. They are just guessing.
That said, I'd bet money on DVD+Mac App Store being the two options. Maybe for 10.8 we'll see USB drives.
Perhaps Family Pack edition only. Or maybe have it a premium option.
For who? People who bought a 2011 iMac or MacBook in the first half of the year? That's a pretty small audience. It's possible Apple could offer a "premium" USB version for a bit more, but it *definitely* won't use thunderbolt.

guys, if you really want to make some SERIOUS word-processing, i suggest you to try the LaTeX system :)
LyX is what i miss most since i switch from linux to mac.
http://www.lyx.org
I agree, I just made the switch. Once you're familiar with LaTeX, which will take some time, you will think anything else (including Word) is crap. I use TeXShop (http://www.uoregon.edu/~koch/texshop), which I think is good, but I haven't tried any others.

I agree; It's way too easy for people with bad intentions to know the best times to break into your home.
You are only sharing your location information with people in your facebook friends list, so if you have people on your friends list that want to break into your house than you have more serious issues to deal with than the new "Places" feature. ;) I would start deleting all those criminals from your friends list right away! :p

every time a rumor comes up regarding "the" iPhone I will vote negative for it. i just can't hear it anymore.
If they release one, good, but please stop the rumors.
ummm....
..... you do know the name of the website where you are reading / posting? This may give you some indication as to whether or not you will be exposed to rumor - mongering.

I have a Windows XP box on my desk next to my G5 and XP's windows and menus are lightning fast and immediately responsive.
There have been a few ways to increase the speed of the menu's. One was plist edit where you just changed a value and it made menu's pup-up instantly. I can't seem to find the how to, but there's one somewhere. Maybe someone here knows what I'm talking about and can post a link.

We can feast our eyes on the Sony NGP whilst Apple have nothing new to show in terms of hardware! :D
What would you like to see?
The iTracy watch that does everything and MR posters will complain that it's not 10 inches big, doesn't come in white, with matte screen option, for FREE etc.etc..
Mini
ipods and
MacPro
are ready to be updated.
The rest was just done.
iphone 5 will get a significant overhaul in ios, not product shape or form I think. Maybe replace the back glass panel and their everlasting quest for weight loss.
Some other areas are not of interest to Apple.
Developmental cycles many times have gaps.
One company is launching something in April, the other in October.
When October stuff comes out it will fall behind in development once April from another manufacturer launches, then they take turns trying to outdo each other.
As long as they all work on their stuff , it's all good for the consumers.

Are you saying you're happy it costs $99? You don't want to pay less, no? The more complaining and bad feedback we give Apple that this service is simply too expensive the better, and the better chance we have they will begin to pay attention to loads (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=.Mac%20too%20expensive&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) of posts/blogs/and stories on this. I feel sick when I have to tell someone how much it costs. I mean they say .Mac syncing is included! You have to pay to sync computers that you payed money for, and worse still you have to give it to the company you bought the computers from?? Give me a break! GMail is free too. iWeb provides little bandwidth, and the whole this is wrapped-up with a tiny storage package. And I don't think the solution is for Apple to give us more storage. I would prefer a cheaper price to more storage any-day. If you want moe storage then you pay $99, otherwise this should cost no more than $49 per year. At the VERY MOST!!
Well, now Apple's onto your little scheme and they'll NEVER charge less!
Seriously, though, I doubt Apple cares what people are saying on the MacRumors forum. I'd of course like them to up the storage too, and what I really want is a spam filter in the webmail. It's why I never check my .mac account anymore. Way too much spam.

How much money round that table??!!
That's a lot of money in one room!:eek:
Haha, that's what I was thinking! :D Very powerful and influential people around that table. Kind of odd and surreal! They are just normal people.
He doesn't look anywhere near as bad as he did in those "genuine" photographs from a certain news organisation.
I can't seem to find those pics. Did they publish them? Do you have a link?
Notice Steve is the only guy without wine?
He is undergoing treatment for cancer.
What is so strange about him not drinking alcohol?
Actually, there are just two guys with Wine in the whole room, they all have water or something like that... (Check out the big flickr pic from the previous poster)
Yes it looks like there are other people with water but does Steve drink? I don't think he does.
Everyone is dressed up but Steve....awesome.
He did wear a tux to the oscars at least.
Ya it was weird seeing Steve in a tux or anything but his standard uniform haha! :D
I would honestly love to see his closet lol! Probably like Earnest... Nothing but black turtle necks, Levis jeans, and NewBalance sneakers haha! :p
[SIZE=1]Get better for the sake of mankind, mr jobs!
No kidding! Please Steve! :(
Good to see that's Steve is still well enough to attend such things. Still very thin mind you.
Yes, for sure!
