yeah, it would only cost them $1000+ to have someone come round to my house and do something about it, well worth the 59 they would sell the end product for

do they check everybodys IP, how do they know i wasn't at wwdc.

Exactly - why would they bother? I'm not sharing it. Plus, I paid for Jaguar (well, the computer it came on), I paid for Panther, I paid for Tiger and I'll 100% certainly be paying for Leopard when it comes out. I want to play with the new features every so often, and get myself all excited about what's to come. How exactly am I hurting Apple? They'd be fools to drive away a long time and dedicated customer by throwing legal issues at me.

I understand that trucks will do the most damage, but what I was just offering was that those gas taxes were originally designed for highway upkeep and that passenger cars with wildly different gas mileage should be inflicting similar amounts of damage.

Yes, I know heavier will mean more damage, but the inequitity of the tax based on fuel economy wouldn't (I think) even out the damage versus taxation level. My friend's 1970 1/2 Firebird (6 mpg) would not do more than 10 times the damage of a Prius, would it? More damage surely, but no way would it be 10 times (doubtful it would even be twice), yet the Prius would pay 10 times less for the 'right' of using the roads.

If taxation is designed to ween us from foreign oil and clean-up the atmosphere, then a gas tax is perfect. Otherwise, it needs to be based on miles driven somehow (perhaps along with a weight multiplier).

What has Obama really done besides go on vacation for the last few years? How the hell has he raised any bar? Tell me what all he promised to do and then tell me exactly how many of those things he has accomplished so far.

    I think he quit smoking:rolleyes:

The only redesign they had to do for the battery is fit it in an enclosure 33% thinner. The charge capacity is the exact same. Just because the processor is more powerful does not mean it uses more power as well. The more powerful a processor, the more the processor can sit idle, saving battery life.

That's a given. They've changed the internals every single generation of iPhone.

AT&T roll out begins this year. Full coverage is not a requisite for roll out. Do you honestly think AT&T had full 3G coverage when the iPhone 3G came out? The area where I'm from, Southern Illinois, only got 3G in the past year. Verizon is rolling out LTE there before the end of the year.

We are apple's home market and their largest one. If you look at iPhone sales, we represent 40% of them, a significant chunk. iPhones represent 50% of their revenue, so domestic iPhone sales represent 20% of Apple's revenue. That's a huge chunk for one product. If they think LTE coverage is good enough and the power draw of an LTE radio is worth it, they'll deploy it.

LTE will actually bring about greater compliance, as AT&T's and Verizon LTE networks will use the exact same protocol.

Europe will be using the 800 MHz range for their LTE/4G deployment, so there's not even necessarily a guarantee there will be a one size fits all LTE radio (much like T-mobile and AT&T handsets require different 3G radios despite both being GSM carriers). If that's the case, the deployment of LTE there will be irrelevant as it will necessitate a new radio regardless.

I see. However, looks like LTE/4G will not a feature for next iteration, and I don't see the urge of adopting it. And if Apple will not adopt it I will do not think that the iPhone4 or the new one to be considered obsolete, or a not innovative because of it.

As for Trump, I have to agree with mrkramer that he's the male version of Palin.

And, uh...you know he's got a penchant for naming everything after himself, right? How does The United States of Trump grab you?

    Here's my theory:

    Amazon noticed Mac OS X 10.0., 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 shipped on C/DVD and assumed 10.7 would be the same.

Meanwhile in Cupertino Apple has either yet to decide, or are weighing up a number of options

I guess they will provide two options:
[1] A flash Drives in the retail packaging.
[2] Mac App Store download for Snow Leopard owners.

Either way I don't care what the end use is if the US army take apple on i'll be put of buying Apple stuff. It's purely political!

The Army already uses Apple stuff. So I guess you'll never buy Apple.

Or Microsoft. Or Linux. Heck, the Army uses almost everything you can think of. Including electronics from probably every company you've heard of.

While you're at it, better check the tags in your clothes. And don't eat boxed or canned or frozen foods either, those companies also make military rations.

As a child of the 50s and 60s, I sympathize with your politics. As an Army veteran, I can tell you that you're barking up the wrong tree. Fight the politicians who go to war, not the war materials or their users... because there are times that you will really need them, and need them to be the best.

This survey is seriously flawed. I've been unable to secure an AT&T iPad within the 3 stores near me.

Verizon iPad? They have them, at all combinations. Wi-Fi? Hit and Miss, but AT&T iPads are gone.

I remember Spock from Star Trek basically made a comment about TV like that. I believe the episode was called "Bread and Circuses". Spock didn't say Scary but since he is half human he probably thought that.

There was a quote in Star Trek NG that said something along the lines of "TV was a fad in the 20th and early 21th century"!!

Funny, but considering the Man in Black goes around gathering information about people and promising them everything they want for free, I'm not so sure you have the roles quite right. :D

Apple is not to blame here, if you read the comments below you'll see the cell providers are:

"The source of the time displayed on your phone is actually input by a person.

Norrmally, most carriers try to ensure the most accurate time by having the person that sets the clock call one of the atomic clock phone numbers, but in the end, it is still typed in by hand.

This statement is not going to be true forever. Many companies are making changes to the systems that control the cellular network, and, since getting the time-of-day is relatively easy to accomplish now, it won't be long until this function is taken out of the hands of a person.

Edited answer: The person who said I was wong was basically right. CDMA and GSM networks use a GPS clock, but the switch still needs to know what offset to use for the local time. All GPS sats use UTC, not local time. TDMA and AMPS networks still have their time entered by hand."

    "Posted: Sun Mar 11, 2007 1:47 pm*
Post subject: Re: Last execution Time giving wrong time : Post DST issue
    Greetings,*

I think you'll have to change the time manually. I've had to do it on several servers and on my windows 5.0 cell phone. As a matter of fact, my cell phone said it changed the clock time, but it didn't and then I found it changed all my calendar events to 1 hr forward. Go figure.*

Good luck. Have a great day."

...maybe I could have found more with different search words, but I think this tells the real story, cell phones get their time from their cell service which is more localized and not maintained/monitored the same way as your ISP for your computer. (I've had clock setting issues when traveling w/laptop, but normally you are in one or two places at most w/laptop and not reliant upon a network of cell towers with more variables).

Calendar events are reliant upon the time being set right in the phone, again, not apple's fault, the cell carrier's problem. This has been an issue since people starting using smart phones (of any brand) for their alarm.

Wow, that bar-b-q at Bill's place panned out. Didn't expect a talk over a few beers and ribs over how to manage over 100 million users in a data center would come to something. At least no blood sucking head hunter got a commission on this one and he got a better signing bonus. Welcome to the club!

And as I wrote in another thread, those photos are not enough to judge how he currently looks, nor if it's him or not in the NE photos.

The photos from the Obama meet has been chosen to be published, he's sitting down, it's dark, and you can only the the side of his head since it's taken from behind. The other photo just shows part of the top of his head.

The tabloid is said to release more photos from the Cancer center in the print edition. I guess those would make it clearer if it's him or not.

Or if more photos are released from the meet that would make things clearer too.

Macs have the intelligence built in to auto-connect independent of the cable type. It doesn't matter what kind of cable you use, your Mac sorts it out internally. Cool, huh?

It is funny HOW NO ONE clicked on these links. It has all the info here, and you can see what the differences are... or people can just keep arguing.

An image like the ones linked are just about the best way to illustrate the difference.

having attempted to read the entire thread, I cannot for the life of me understand what thatisme and flosseR are arguing about!

It is SO SIMPLE. Take lens "X", assuming it functions on both Crop and FF cameras.

Shoot a scene with "X" on a FF camera. If you crop it down to .625 of it's original size from the center, you will have the EXACT same image as the crop sensor camera produces with "X", noise/details/crap like that aside.

    There is no argument here.
